Colombo, January 1, 2025 – Sri Lanka embarked on a transformative journey today with the official launch of the Clean Sri Lanka initiative by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Aiming to position Sri Lanka as the cleanest country in Asia, the program embodies a socially, environmentally, and ethically driven mission focused on sustainable waste management and environmental cleanliness.
To ensure effective implementation, an 18-member Presidential Task Force has been appointed. This task force will oversee the initiative’s progress, ensuring adherence to its ambitious goals. The program emphasizes community engagement and transparency, with its official website, www.cleansrilanka.gov.lk, serving as a hub for updates and contributions. The site includes a payment gateway for donations, encouraging citizens and global supporters to actively participate in this national cause.
President Dissanayake highlighted the initiative’s significance, stating, “Clean Sri Lanka is not just an environmental program—it is a socially inclusive, environmentally transformative, and ethically responsible cornerstone of national development. Together, we can transform our country and set a benchmark for the region.”
