Master of Arts and Masters in Sociology Programs (2025/2026) – University of Colombo

The University of Colombo has officially announced the opening of applications for its Master of Arts in Sociology (MA Soc) and Masters in Sociology (M Soc) programs for the academic years 2025/2026 and 2025/2027.

Program Details

1. Master of Arts in Sociology (MA Soc)
   • Duration: Two years
   • Entry Requirements:
     a. A BA Special Degree in Sociology from a recognized university with second-class honors,
     b. General Degree in Arts with Sociology as a subject with at least an upper or lower second class,
     c. Special Degree in Sociology with a relevant postgraduate diploma,
     d. MA (Q) in Sociology,
     e. Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Sociology with at least a Merit Pass.
   • Medium of Instruction: Sinhala/English
2. Masters in Sociology (M Soc)
   • Duration: One year
   • Entry Requirements:
     a. A BA Special Degree in Sociology,
     b. General Degree with Sociology as a subject,
     c. Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Sociology,
     d. A Degree in Social Science or Humanities with a minimum of three years of post-qualifying work or research experience.
   • Medium of Instruction: Sinhala/English
