The Ministry of Education in Sri Lanka is set to inaugurate the National College of Education for Technology (NCoET) in Kuliyapitiya in January 2025. This institution will focus on training educators to teach GCE Advanced Level Technological subjects. After completing a four-year program, graduates will receive a Bachelor of Education (BEd) Honors degree in their chosen discipline, qualifying them to teach technological subjects at the Advanced Level.
Attachment of Lecturers to NCoET
To staff the new institution, the Ministry plans to attach lecturers from existing National Colleges of Education (NCoEs) through attachment or transfer on a contractual basis. These lecturers, sourced from the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Education Service (SLTES), will be responsible for delivering courses in two categories.
The NCoE branch of MoE is planning to recruit lecturers on attachment basis from the qualified and
experience teachers in SLTS to deliver following subjects in English medium at NCoET for two years period
