BEd Honours in Natural Sciences (2025/2026) – Open University

The Faculty of Education at the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) has announced the commencement of applications for its BEd Honours in Natural Sciences program for the academic year 2025/2026. This program, offered at Levels 5 and 6, is an excellent opportunity for aspiring educators and professionals in the field of natural sciences.

BEd Honours in Natural Sciences : Eligibility Criteria

Level 5 Registration

• For B.Sc/B.Ed Students of OUSL:
  • Completion of all courses (60 credits) at Levels 3 and 4 of Science courses.
  • Students registered before 2015/2016 must complete all OCAM (60 credits) for Levels 3 and 4.
  • A minimum of 45 credits in Level 3 and 4 Science courses with grades D, D+, or C– (equivalent to 15 credits).
• For Others:
  • A B.Sc (Natural Sciences) degree from a recognized university.
  • A Diploma in Science from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at OUSL.
  • Teachers with a 3-year Teacher Education Program qualification and a National Diploma in Teaching (Science/Mathematics) are exempted from Level 5 (internal students only).

Level 6 Registration

• OCAM in all courses (30 credits) at Level 5.
• Exemption from Level 5 and completion of all courses (60 credits) at Levels 3 and 4 of Science courses.
• Students registered before 2015/2016 must complete all OCAM (60 credits) and at least 45 credits in Levels 3 and 4 Science courses with grades D, D+, or C–.
