Foreign nationals, including Sri Lankans, now have the opportunity to apply for the highly anticipated US Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) program starting tonight. The DV-2026 program, commonly known as the US Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, will accept applications from October 2, 2024, until November 5, 2024.
The Diversity Visa program is designed to offer immigrants from countries with historically low immigration rates to the United States an opportunity to secure a U.S. immigrant visa. For the fiscal year 2026, up to 55,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be available.
Applicants must submit their entries electronically at dvprogram.state.gov between 12:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4) on October 2, 2024, and 12:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5) on November 5, 2024.
According to a notice from the US Embassy in Colombo, applicants must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria to participate in the program. Registration is only available through the official website, and detailed instructions can be found at the official travel.state.gov website.
