MPhil/PhD 2025 University of Colombo | The Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Colombo is now accepting applications for its Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs for the academic year 2025. These prestigious programs, classified under SLQF Level 11/12, are set to commence in January 2025 and are designed for individuals seeking advanced research degrees in their respective fields.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following academic criteria:

1. Bachelor’s Honours Degree (SLQF Level 06) from a recognized institution with a minimum of First or Second Class Upper Division and at least 30 credits in the relevant field.
2. Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF Level 05) with postgraduate qualifications in the relevant field, along with a substantial research component acceptable to the Faculty Board and the Senate.
3. Two-Year Full-Time Master’s Degree (SLQF Level 10) in the relevant field, with a substantial research component accepted by the Faculty Board and the Senate.
4. Other Master’s Degrees that comply with SLQF Level 9 requirements and include a substantial research component, as accepted by the Faculty Board and the Senate.

Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a good command of the English language and pass a selection test and/or interview.

Applications must be submitted online along with certified copies of all required documents, including the National Identity Card, birth certificate, educational qualifications, professional qualifications, work experience (if applicable), and a scanned copy of the payment slip for the application processing fee.
