The Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Presidential Secretariat, has announced the opening of nominations for the prestigious Young Leaders’ Programme (YLP) under the Japanese Government’s MEXT Scholarship for the year 2025. The program, which offers a one-year master’s degree in various disciplines, is set to commence in October 2025.

The YLP aims to foster future leaders in various fields by offering comprehensive academic programs at renowned Japanese institutions. The areas of study for the 2025 intake include:

Nomination Process:
The Embassy of Japan has requested government ministries and relevant institutions in Sri Lanka to submit nominations of eligible officials for these programs. Each ministry or department is invited to nominate suitable candidates who exhibit leadership potential and the capacity to contribute significantly to their field.
Application Requirements:
Eligible candidates must submit two sets of applications, which include:
- A nomination letter from the relevant line ministry.
- A completed application form with the necessary documents, including an additional copy of each document.
- Copies of relevant passport pages.
- A duly filled ERD form.
